Born into a racing family, Tim received his AMA and SCTA licenses and started racing motorcycles at the age of 13. He raced drag bikes at OCIR and Carlsbad Raceways, and Land Speed Racing at El Mirage Dry Lake. He held fast time in his class 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979, and fastest time for a production motorcycle in the dirt mile in 1989.
