Jimmie O’Dell, Sr. (“Pappy” 2): AMA National #20. Started racing in 1950. Served in Korea as a Marine, returned to racing and became AMA’s # 1 Nov. in ‘54, #1 Am. in '55, and Expert #20 in ‘56. He teamed with Sammy Tanner as his mechanic in ‘66, earning the AMA Golden Torque Wrench. He modified his Maley Steel Shoe to have 2 strap points so he would never lose it. His son Jimmie Jr used the same steel shoe.
