John Flanders raced speedway for several years, primarily at Costa Mesa and Orange County International Raceway. He served as president of the Speedway Racers Association (SRA) for one year. He also raced off road desert races, enduros, Old Timers Motocross, and Dual Sport rides. He worked in the motorcycle business as an outside sales rep and later as president of Flanders Company for 40 years after his parents retired.
