LAS VEGAS, NV (Jan. 18, 2025)
Three former two-wheel superstars – Ricky Johnson, Jeff Emig and Colin “Scummy” Morrison – have been added to the featured guests on Saturday, Jan. 31, in the sixth annual “Hot Shoe” Hall of Fame Museum and Motorcycle Industry Celebration at the Las Vegas’ Notoriety Theatre in the famed Las Vegas Fremont Street Experience (450 E. Fremont St., 3rd Floor).
Joining the likes of Eddie Lawson, Scott Parker, Jay Springsteen and Garth Brow for the unique “Hot Shoe” Hall of Fame presentation, the three motorcycle icons have been inducted with the growing list of “Hot Shoe” recipients for their impressive two-wheel careers included numerous series championships, race victories and innovative concepts.
Johnson, a seven-time AMA Motocross and Supercross champion, was the1980s motocross dominating rider with titles in 1984 (250cc), 1986 (250cc and Supercross), 1987 (250cc & 500cc) and 1988 (500cc and Supercross. He is also a member of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame and the Motorsports Hall of Fame. But Johnson’s racing accomplishments didn’t stop in two wheels, as the El Cajon, CA, native has been a multi-time series winner in four wheels including Trophy Trucks which he continues to campaign in the Legends class. Ricky has won (with Gus Vildosola) 16 consecutive Trophy Truck Legends races.
Emig, the Kansas native, stunned the motocross world back in 1980s with four titles at the Loretta Lynn Nationals as a youngster and became a factory Kawasaki racer in 1990. In 1992, Emig won the first of his AMA championships in the 125cc class and scored titles in 1996 and 1997 (250cc) as well as FIM World Supercross (1996) and Supercross (250cc). After a serious injury forced Jeff to retire in 2000, he became a superb analyst in national Supercross television productions. Emig won 37 AMA races in his career.
Morrison, an original member of legendary Metal Mulisha, was a pioneer in the freestyle motocross competition (FMX) and campaigned in the famed Warped Tour at age 16. “Scummy” was a medalist in the ESPN X-Games and appeared in countless videos and magazines as well as helping build the dirt-bike culture which continues today. Unfortunately, drugs and alcohol halted Morrison’s career and threatened his life. But a great recovery and a daily commitment to sobriety turned around Morrison’s life and he currently assists others getting sober including hosting the “Talking Sobriety” podcast.
