Mentored by motorcycle racing legends Harlan Bast and Rich Thorwaldson, Scott Rousseau began competing in speedway aboard a twin-cam Jawa purchased from the Bast family in 1989. He switched to flat track in 1995 and won the Gene Romero 250cc West Coast Flat Track Championship in 2000. A veteran motorcycle racing journalist, he served as the AMA Grand National Championship, flat track, and speedway editor with Cycle News from 1995 to 2006.
