In 1968 Mike was the Indoor Short Track Champ at both Santa Rosa & San Jose. He was the only 1st Year Expert to qualify for the main at the Astrodome in ’68 & finished 5th against some of the best riders of the day. In 1971 he traveled to NY for the Madison Square Garden Silver Cup. Out of 130 entries, he was 1 of 10 riders to make the main and finished in 5th place. He also won a fierce battle for the Cow Palace Indoor Championship in '71.
