Competed: 1910-1922
Maldwyn Jones started racing for Flying Merkel's Yellow Jackets in 1910, at the age of 18. By 1913, he was one of the top dirt track racers in the midwest and began racing nationals. Jones’ name became well-known as he mastered the short tracks as well as long tracks. He made his own crash Helmet, developed broadsiding technique and began riding with a piece of steel underneath his sole as he thought a steel boot would not wear out as quickly.
