Dorene Payne was best known as the first woman to ever qualify for a main event in a men's AMA Pro Outdoor MX National, Castle Rock MX Park in CO She was also the first woman to race against men in a stadium SX. She as great respect for all the women riders she competed against throughout her career. She was part of the groundswell of women who fought for their rights to be recognized as legitimate racers.
