AC Bakken was a dominant force in desert/offroad racing in the 1970s and early 80s'. Overall wins at the Baja 1000, Baja 500, Parker 400 and countless D-37 desert racers cemented his reputation as one of the fastest riders to ever swing a leg over a motorcycle. Riding for Team Husqvarna AC earned the coveted D-37 #1 Heavyweight title in 1974 along with the infamous "Tie" overall victory with Mitch Mayes at the 1974 Barstow to Vegas Hare and Hound
